Tales of the Arabian Nights Gets a New Edition for it's 40th Anniversary

Tales of the Arabian Nights first hit the scene back in 1986 when West End Games brought this epic, and highly regarded, adventure storytelling board game to life. Z-Man Games rubbed the magic lantern and brought the game back to life in 2009 with a really nice edition that upgraded the components and artwork, as well as modified the rules for quicker and more easy-flowing play, and significantly expanded the Book of Tales - the heart of the game that includes the narrative outcomes, treasures, perils, and reactions to events based upon the players choices.

This week see’s the latest incarnation of the game with Play to Z’s Tales of the Arabian Nights: 40th Anniversary edition starting to hit retail shelves. This new edition, which crowdfunded on Gamefound at the end of 2024, comes with all new artwork, a number of new encounters, a brand new Solo mode (the original WEG game had a solo-mode but the Z-Man edition removed the option from the base set), revised rules for a number of things such as terrain encounters, speeding up time of day shifts, and over 200 new paragraphs in the hardcover story book.

This new edition is for 1-6 players, ages 12+, with a playing time of around 120 minutes.

So, come and join Sindbad, Scheherazade, Aladdin, and the other legendary heroes of the 1001 Tales. Travel the world encountering imprisoned princesses, powerful efreets, evil viziers, and visit such marcels as the enigmatic Magnetic Mountain, the terrifying Ape Island, and the lustrous Crystal Palace.
