Peashooters at the Ready! Mantic Announces Plants vs. Zombies Board Game

Mantic Games have announced their latest partnership in a quest to bring us more board and miniature games based on computer games. This latest deal is with PopCap for a 2-4 player cooperative boardgame based on the iconic Plants vs. Zombies franchise.

Plants vs. Zombies: The Board Game is a fast-paced cooperative tabletop game for 1-4 players that captures all the comedy and chaos of the iconic Plants vs. Zombies franchise. Players must work together to outsmart hilarious and horrifying Zombie hordes by growing defensive lines of precocious plants to protect the homestead. Featuring iconics Plants vs. Zombies plants like Peashooters, Cherry Bombs and Wall-nuts, players must plan their defense wisele to stop the Zombies in their tracks.

Mantic are no stranger to creating tabletop games based on computer IPs. Halo: Flashpoint, Assassin’s Creed, and even the classic Worms have all fallen under their designers gaze over the last few years.

So, what are we likely to see in this new adaptation? Well, Mantic are promising us a faithful adaptation of the classic Plants vs. Zombies gameplay that takes players through a series of levels, unlocking new challenges, plants, and Zombies along the way.

New features will become available through the Zen Garden Campaign with difficulty scaling to match the groups skill, making sure the game remains fun and challenging no matter how many times you bring it to the table. Each level challenges players with a new zombie horde to defeat, and if any of the zombies reach the house the players lose. So the players have to work together to defeat all the zombies in order to win.

Plants vs. Zombies will be sprouting on Kickstarter this autumn with a collector’s edition of the game, which will include some exclusive content not available in the retail edition that will follow.
