Victrix have announced a new and forthcoming project with Noodle Wargames.
Entitled Pillage, this new, narrative-driven, Dark Ages skirmish game invites players to either ransack enemy villages or defend their home from would-be robbers and raiders.
Set in the Viking Age and early medieval period, Pillage is said to combine slick mechanics with ‘rich, cinematic moments’. Driven by narrative and obstacles, the game will allow models and players to interact with and take advantage of tabletop terrain by scaling walls and buildings, jumping over or climbing obstacles etc. The game’s emphasis is said to be very much on ‘storytelling, terrain, and objective-based play’, with miniatures / characters gradually evolving into ‘heroes, cowards, and legends in a saga of your own making’.
The game is said to have been designed to allow players to enjoy campaigns as either Viking raiders on the rob, or Anglo-Saxons defending their homes. It also focuses on the period from the 793 raid on Lindisfarne Abbey through to the Battle of Hastings, but it can ‘easily be adapted to conflicts from Antiquity through to the end of the Middle Ages’.
