Okay, I’ll admit it: I’m a sucker for the UK’s indie wargame scene.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the bigger boys like GW and Warlord Games produce great games and minis, but little companies like Warp Miniatures, Oakbound Studio, Olmec Games and Oathsworn Miniatures? I just love the the originality, the imagination and the sheer love they put not only into their their background material and their games, but also their miniatures.
Twilight Miniatures are another great example. The owner, Michael Thorp, has not only written all the lore and the rules for his skirmish games Anyaral: The World of Twilight, but he also sculpts all the miniatures. And he does it with passion.
His new clutch of minis are a great example. A small collection of cavalry, these Dhogus and their mounts are hand-sculpted and dripping with character and charm.
The rest of the Anyaral range is just as unique. So, if you like your fantasy to have a bit of character and heart, then check out their Facebook page. Better yet, give the game a go; you won’t regret it.
