Hi guys. I've been busy over the last few months making and painting dungeon terrain that I can use for my D&D campaign that I'm running currently which is "the Lost City" adventure module by Tom Moldvay. I started off making a Dungeon Terrain Board which is the flat, circular foam board that I've included as one of the images for this post. The whole point of it is to encourage everyone to use theatre of the mind for exploring a dungeon and only using props and pieces for combat encounters. After I finished that, I started making lots of props and wall pieces. So far I've made:
- 8 long walls
- 4 short walls
- 3 archways
- 8 pillars
- 2 stairs
- 2 sarcophagi
- 3 giant tablets
- 1 thin raised platform (dais)
- 1 thick raised platform (dais)
- 4 singular steps
- 1 altar
Using a pen, I pressed deep mortar lines into the foam to give it a more realistic look and then I painted them with multiple coats using craft paint and a bit of mod podge. It's all looking pretty good, though I need to touch up some of the edges for ones where the paint came off, maybe I'll do some highlights too. My thoughts now switch to what I should start making next? I could make some more walls, but the point of my UDT board is to make using lots of wall props obsolete as the focus of combat is within the circle. Do you guys have any thoughts of neat dungeon props that are realistic for me to make with foam and anything I could buy from B&M or another shop.
I plan to continue posting my crafting projects on here, so please like my post and follow me if you want to keep up with all that.
Thanks guys.
